Accessibility and reading support

We want members to be able to read our news, find resources and participate in the local. We are improving this website using WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our technical target.

Reading and using this website

• Use your browser’s zoom and text-size settings. The layout supports narrow screens and enlarged text.
• Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move through links and controls. A visible focus outline shows your position. The first link skips navigation and goes to the main content.
• The homepage photos have previous, next and pause controls. Rotation stops when the carousel receives keyboard focus, and starts paused when reduced motion is enabled.
• The photo viewer supports previous and next buttons, arrow keys, and Escape to close. Closing returns focus to the photograph link.
• Forms have labels. Images that convey information have text descriptions.

Newsletter formats

The July–September 2026 reading edition provides the issue’s text, flyer transcriptions, photograph descriptions and direct links instead of requiring QR-code scanning. It can be read with browser zoom, text selection and heading navigation.

A large-print, tagged PDF is also available. The original newsletter PDF remains available as an archive; its image-only flyers, missing image descriptions and reading structure present accessibility barriers. We recommend the web reading edition.

Review status and limitations

Updated September 22, 2026. Our checks include automated accessibility rules, keyboard workflows, contrast, 320-pixel reflow, enlarged text and increased text spacing. Automated and browser checks do not establish complete WCAG conformance or legal ADA compliance. Testing with people who use assistive technology and independent document validation remain part of the review needed.

External PDFs and third-party services may have different accessibility support. We have not certified those services. The 15 selected event recordings include visual descriptions and automatic speech captions and transcripts. Caption accuracy, speaker identification, meaningful background sounds and any additional audio-description needs still require review. Automatic captions alone do not establish conformance.
